John Gokongwei Jr is the founder of the JG Summit Group in the Philippines. If you haven’t heard about JG Summit, let me tell you that it is one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines with a 50-year history. The Group’s business spans many industries including food, aviation, mobile communication, real estate, financial services and others.

Very soon Malaysia will be like the Philippines if we continue to squabble over wealth distribution instead of focusing on wealth creation. Very inspiring story.

Very inspiring indeed. I printed it out to post on my wall.
A few notes though:
Kinda ironic of the fact that someone who never finished school giving advice to the Philippines’ finest students (future employees). What I find amusing is that the answer was facing them on stage. Any successful and experienced enterpreneur will tell you that school will not get you where they are now. It will just teach you to work for them. OR to put it bluntly: no one ever got rich by going to school. So true.
God, if I were one of those students in that room I would be kicking myself why I wasted 4 years of my life being the academe’s money cow.
